RunLive

Terms of Service.

RunLive lets people go live on race day and lets the people who care about them ride along. These are the rules for using it. They are short on purpose, and they mean what they say.

The short version

By creating an account or using RunLive, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Your account

One account per person, with true information. Keep your password to yourself; what happens on your account is on you. If you think someone else is using it, change the password and tell us.

You must be at least 13 years old to use RunLive. The app is not designed for children, and if we learn that someone under 13 has an account we delete it. Parents and guardians can write to us at any time.

You can delete your account from inside the app (Me, Settings, Delete Account). It removes your profile, runs, posts, streams, and messages. See the Privacy Policy for what survives in backups and for how long.

Going live, and what you post

You own what you create on RunLive: your streams, your films, your photos, your posts, your messages. To run the service we need a license from you to store, display, transmit, and share that content within RunLive and on the share pages you create, in any format the service uses, for as long as your content is on the service. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already saved or shared.

A public stream is public. Anyone signed in to RunLive can watch it and see your position moving. You choose the audience for every broadcast before you start, and you can end a broadcast at any time.

Only post what you have the right to post. Do not stream other people who have not agreed to be in your broadcast in a way that identifies them, and do not post photos, music, or other material you do not have rights to.

Community rules: zero tolerance

RunLive is a place to cheer people on. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You may not use RunLive to:

Every post, comment, stream, and conversation can be reported from its menu, and any account can be blocked from its profile. Reports reach a person, and we act on them within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these rules and we suspend or terminate the accounts behind it, without notice and without refund of anything spent. We may also preserve and share content with law enforcement when the law requires it or when someone is in danger.

Your safety comes first

Running, riding, skiing, and hiking carry risk. You are responsible for your own safety and for following the rules of the road, the trail, and the mountain. Do not look at your phone in traffic. RunLive is not an emergency service, does not monitor broadcasts for danger, and cannot call for help on your behalf.

Going live shares your real-time position with your chosen audience. Think about who can see a public stream before you start one from home, and end a broadcast before you get there.

Sparks

Sparks are virtual credits used to cheer athletes on with gifts during a live stream. You buy Sparks packs through Apple's in-app purchase, at the prices shown in the app. Bonus Sparks included with a pack are a promotion and can change or end at any time.

Sparks are entertainment credits, not money. They have no cash value to the buyer, cannot be transferred outside RunLive, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are not refundable except where Apple's refund policies or the law require it. Gifts are final once sent. We may change the price of packs and gifts, and we may retire Sparks if the service ends, in which case we will tell you in advance.

Apple handles the payment. We never see your card.

Earnings and payouts

When someone sends you a gift during your stream, you accrue earnings at the rate shown in the app when the gift is sent. Earnings are a revenue share RunLive pays you under these terms; they are not a deposit and RunLive is not a bank.

Health data is not medical advice

RunLive shows the numbers your phone and watch produce: pace, distance, heart rate, elevation, cadence, calories. They are for training and for the people watching you. They are not medical advice, and they can be wrong. Talk to a doctor before starting or changing an exercise program, and stop if something feels wrong.

What is ours, what is yours

The RunLive app, its design, its name and marks, and the film engine are ours. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app as it is offered. Do not copy it, reverse engineer it, or resell it.

Your content is yours, as described above. If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them without owing you anything, which is the only way a small team can act on what people ask for.

Third-party services

RunLive is built on services from Apple (App Store, in-app purchase, Sign in with Apple, Apple Maps, HealthKit, Apple Music), Stripe (payouts), and, if you connect it, Strava. Their terms apply to your use of their services. We are not responsible for them, and they are not responsible for us.

Ending things

You can stop using RunLive at any time and delete your account from inside the app. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we shut the service down; where we can, we will tell you why. Earnings you have legitimately accrued and that are eligible for payout stay yours.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms we update the date at the top, and for a change that matters we tell you in the app before it takes effect. Using RunLive after a change means you accept it.
